ParkRun

I got up early and joined Werrington Lake at their Parkrun event as another one of my AGP National Finalist appearances. Parkrun is a global free community event where participants every Saturday can join their local registered park and run, walk or jog. The purpose of Parkrun is to be a part of the feel good movement where anyone and everyone can feel included. I was fortunate enough to volunteer and help set up the event by putting arrows around the course to direct participants on which ways to go and also completed my first Parkrun. I first hand saw this solely volunteer run event make a difference in lots of people’s lives by celebrating the little and big achievements, such as announcing my own first Parkrun as-well as somebody’s 50th run. This tight knit community was so welcoming. It is so important to give the community a purpose to get up in the morning with no judgement to achieve their personal best.
